Many Christians were deeply offended when Iowa officials allowed a satanic display in the state Capitol, and one took it upon himself to demonstrate that displeasure. Navy veteran Michael Cassidy, 35, decapitated the image of Lucifer and destroyed the offensive creation.

It is almost certain that he now faces legal retribution from the local Satanic Temple.

But a funny thing happened. Christians stood up behind Cassidy and within three hours fully funded his legal defense. Of course he deserves this support because, after all, how many historic monuments were destroyed by leftist radicals during the violence of BLM?

Iowa officials faced sharp criticism for the display. They defended their decision to allow it by asserting the atheistic group went through the proper channels to get permission to exhibit their work.

Republican Gov. Kim Reyonds called the group’s Capitol handiwork “absolutely objectionable.” However, she said that “in a free society, the best response to objectionable speech is more speech, and I encourage all those of faith to join me today in praying over the Capitol.”

So, who exactly is the Satanic Temple?

Among other insidious acts, they advocate having mothers kill their unborn children through a “religious abortion ritual.” When Catholic Spanish priest Junipero was canonized, the Satanic Temple held a demonization ceremony to show their disgust.

Cassidy is charged with 4th degree criminal mischief for destroying the Baphomet figure. When asked for his motivation by Fox News Digital, he said “it was extremely anti-Christian.”

The Navy veteran is also a former congressional candidate who unsuccessfully ran last year to unseat Rep. Michael Guest (R-MS).

Thursday night Cassidy posted on X, formerly Twitter, “1 Peter 5:8 KJV Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”

The Satanic Temple of Iowa also responded on social media. In a Facebook post, the group said its controversial exhibit was damaged “beyond repair.”

It added, “We ask that for safety, visitors travel together and use the 7 Tenets as a reminder for empathy, in the knowledge that justice is being pursued the correct way, through legal means. Happy Holidays! Hail Satan!”
