Although the field of academia has been largely dominated by leftist ideology in recent years, one adjunct instructor at the University of Cincinnati recently learned that there is a limit to such indoctrination.

The school issued a formal reprimand to 29-year-old Melanie Nipper for giving a student a zero on an assignment because she used the term “biological women.”

The head of the university’s Department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies penned the reprimand, which cautioned the instructor that she could be fired for “further violation” of the school’s free speech policy.

“You are reminded that as an unrepresented, unclassified ‘at will’ employee your employment may be terminated with or without cause,” the reprimand asserted.

In order to prevent any future breaches, Nipper has been required to complete a training course and “submit all syllabi” to administrators “at least two weeks prior to the beginning of classes for review and approval.”

Of course, the instructor filed an appeal of the decision, claiming that “biological woman” is a form of “harmful speech” that she only restricted in order “to ensure a safe learning environment.”

As for why she rejected the student’s final project proposal, Nipper claimed that “the topic itself was inappropriate as it targeted trans women as a source of oppression for cis women in sports.”

The issue of whether biological males should be allowed to compete against females in gender-segregated sports has gained significant attention in recent years as trans athletes often dominate such athletic events.

Nevertheless, Nipper insisted that such debate has no place in her classroom because some students might be offended.

“As the class has students that identify as gender non-conforming and/or trans, I felt it was necessary to educate her regarding inclusive language to ensure a safe learning environment for other students,” the instructor said.

The student, Olivia Krolczyk, brought attention to the situation in a TikTok video that included images of the failing grade and the note Nipper left on it about her “trans-exclusionary” language.

“How am I supposed to do my project if I can’t use the term ‘biological women?’” the student asked.
