As crime continues to rise in New York City, the number of physical attacks on women has skyrocketed by a staggering 41%.

According to New York Police Department (NYPD) data cited by the New York Post, instances of attacks on women have increased by 41% in the past four years. The outlet noted that 2,830 women had been the victims of felony attacks — excluding domestic violence — from January to October 2023. Meanwhile, there were only 2,006 felony attacks on women in 2019 as a whole. However, the number of felony attacks on women this year only represents an increase of 5% from the same time in 2022 — when 2,699 women were victims of felony attacks.

Many of the attacks on women over the past few years have occurred on the New York City subway — including a brutal attack by a homeless ex-convict, who viciously beat a Queens woman to the point where she was in danger of losing sight in one of her eyes.

The New York Post spoke with another victim of a recent subway crime who had been sucker-punched by a stranger at the West 4th Street subway station in September.

“She ripped ex-Mayor Bill de Blasio and his comrades for pushing to empty the city’s jails during the pandemic and lashed out at city pols for passing legislation to cut down on the number of people in custody as part of its goal to close Rikers Island,” the outlet reported.

As politicians in New York City and the state continue to push soft-on-crime policies and allow mentally ill, drug-addicted homeless people to roam the streets, many New Yorkers are living in fear. At the same time, the city has seen a mass exodus of police officers.

Many critics on X, formerly known as Twitter, blasted New York City for policies that have led to the increase in attacks on women.

“End No Cash Bail and fire all Soro’s funded DA’s and Mayors and give the police all the money and tools they need!” one user wrote.

“Not surprised. It’s getting to Mad Max proportions out here. Despicable,” another commented.
