The Chinese Communist Party has zero respect for the United States, according to Keith Kellogg, who formerly acted as a national security advisor for the Trump administration.

Kellog’s remark came in wake of the news that a Chinese spy balloon flew into U.S. airspace and was not downed until days later.

“You need to push back on the Chinese right away and show a level of strength,” Kellogg, a former Army lieutenant general and national security adviser to Vice President Mike Pence, said during an appearance on the John Solomon Reports podcast.

He noted that the Chinese minister of defense reportedly did not return a call from Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin last week after the balloon was seen flying over Montana.

“He didn’t take the call,” said Kellogg. “And I said, ‘OK, that’s just the level of lack of respect that they have for this administration.’”

The aircraft was taken down over the Atlantic Ocean on Saturday. The Navy has reportedly recovered it since that time.

Kellogg indicated he is worried the U.S. reaction to the event will worsen the situation in Taiwan, which has received stronger threats from China as of late.

“Who knows what’s gonna happen next?” Kellogg pondered. “And you have to extend that to what they’re gonna do with Taiwan, because I think they’re testing us seeing how we’re going to respond if something were to happen to Taiwan. Will we respond to it?”

Months ago, Chinese dictator Xi Jinping announced that the Chinese Communist Party will be accelerating its efforts to create a world-class military and that it will “oppose Taiwan independence.”

He suggested that the use of military power would not be left off the table, reportedly saying in Oct. 2022, “We will adhere to striving for the prospect of a peaceful reunification with the greatest sincerity and greatest efforts, but will never commit to abandoning the use of force, and reserve the option to take all necessary measures.”

Kellog has previously asserted that he perceives China as a massive threat to the United States.
