House Republicans Target Deep State Suppression Of Conservatives Online

It is no secret that leftist deep state organizations target conservative voices online both through censorship and by going after their ad revenue. Now, House Republicans are prepared to probe this disturbing trend by the so-called “misinformation” industry.

Opinions not approved by the government on topics ranging from COVID-19 vaccines to controversial elections are fair game. Big Tech marched in lockstep with censors to suppress online dissent.

And many times the State Department wrote the checks to fund these attacks on First Amendment-protected free speech.

These efforts are spearheaded by a network of groups intent on labeling conservative voices as misinformation. And the attackers are doing nothing less than attempting to drive these journalists completely out of business.

Accused is the World Federation of Advertisers along with its subsidiary, the Global Alliance for Responsible Media. The pair are successfully steering prominent advertisers away from conservative platforms.

This is done under the guise of fighting disinformation, harmful or sensitive topics.

House investigators are now poised to probe this injustice and defend constitutional rights. The effort combines the authority of House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) and House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY).

And this is far from the only defense the GOP is mounting against leftist censorship.

Just last week, a dozen House Republicans backed a lawsuit accusing the Biden administration of marching in lockstep with Big Tech to suppress Americans’ free speech rights. An amicus brief was filed by the coalition against the White House’s crusade against dissent.

The brief blasted Biden, who it accused of applying “relentless” pressure on private entities “to censor speech that the administration disliked.” It said free speech opponents in the White House even went after “memes and jokes.”

The brief was submitted to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans. The court is currently considering an administration appeal of a judge’s order last month barring Biden officials from interactions with social media firms.

That order was put on hold by the appeals court.

A civil suit was brought in 2022 by Louisiana Attorney Gen. Jeff Landry and then-Missouri Attorney Gen. Eric Schmitt. They alleged White House coercion of social media platforms to censor dissenting information on a wide array of issues.

Those included the explosive Hunter Biden laptop revelation that was suppressed just before the 2020 presidential election. The administration was also accused of targeting postings concerning the COVID-19 lab leak theory.
