House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) minced no words in his pointed reaction to presidential son Hunter Biden disregarding his congressional subpoena.

Interviewed Thursday by Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, the Republican called it “typical” of the Biden clan to defy legitimate investigation into their alleged misdeeds. On Wednesday, Comer and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) announced their next step.

The powerful duo said that they will begin contempt of Congress proceedings after Hunter Biden skipped a scheduled deposition. Instead, the first son held a press conference on the Capitol steps denying his family’s involvement in illegal foreign activities.

Comer said the younger Biden did it in typical family fashion. “He showed the world the amount of arrogance and entitlement that he believes he has because he’s a Biden…he doesn’t think the rules apply to him.”

The representative said even those still defending the president know the family was involved in international influence peddling.

The House voted 221-212 to formally launch an impeachment inquiry into President Biden after many months of investigation. Making it official gave representatives additional authority to collect evidence.

Comer asserted that Hunter Biden will not dictate subpoena terms and that congressional Republicans reasonably expect “full cooperation.”

On Capitol Hill, Biden struck a defiant tone. “What are they afraid of? I’m here, I’m ready.” He said that he would only answer questions in a public forum and claimed there was no evidence that his father was involved in his foreign business dealings.

Comer was unimpressed. “We have specific questions for the president’s son. He does not get to dictate the terms of this subpoena.”

A joint statement from Comer and Jordan announced the next step in tackling the defiant first son.

It read, “Hunter Biden today defied lawful subpoenas and we will now initiate contempt of Congress proceedings. We will not provide special treatment because his last name is Biden.”

The powerful representatives noted that Biden avoided the deposition and instead gave public statements on the Capitol steps. It is their duty, the two wrote, to determine “exactly how was Joe Biden involved.”

Comer and Jordan cited the younger Biden’s refusal to comply as an indication of the need for a formal impeachment inquiry resolution.
