The left continues to demand that conservative Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas recuse himself from former President Donald Trump’s immunity case that the high court is set to hear arguments on next week.

Liberals in media and politics insist Thomas must step aside due to his wife Ginni’s activism. But it’s unclear whether a spouse’s viewpoints constitute a conflict of interest. Apparently not when those opinions align with extreme left-wing ideology.

Ginni Thomas expressed the same concerns as millions of Americans after the contentious 2020 presidential election, no different than Democrats who regularly question the process when their chosen candidate loses. But the establishment media brushes off that argument intent on painting the Thomas couple in a negative light.

The media asserted without evidence that Mrs. Thomas violated ethical standards and attempted to smear the justice with the same accusation while ignoring the fact that many judges are married to spouses who work in Washington and advocate for various causes.

The trials of the 45th president serve as a prime example. Not only have the judges themselves made statements clearly demonstrating their prejudice in the cases but some have family members who are also vehemently anti-Trump.

The left would never tolerate a MAGA supporter sitting in judgment of the former president. But they have no issue with Trump’s opponents deciding his fate. Recusal only becomes necessary if a judge’s family may profit financially from a ruling or if an impartial observer could reasonably ascertain bias.

While there are clear examples in the Trump trials the same cannot be said for the Thomas family. It’s just another instance of the weaponization of government and its compliant media partners against conservatives.
