In an arrogant display that proved just how far U.S. prestige has tumbled under President Joe Biden, Mexico is demanding amnesty for at least 10 million illegal migrants in exchange for stemming the record flow through its own borders.

NBC News reported that Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador insisted on sweeping U.S. concessions last month. These stipulations were presented at a meeting in his country with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

For doing what they should already be doing, Mexico demands $20 billion in American taxpayer funds go to Latin American and Caribbean countries.

Further, the U.S. must end its longstanding blockade of Communist Cuba and at least 10 million Hispanic immigrants must be granted the right to remain in the U.S. and legally work.

The country is already burdened by a record influx of illegal migrants taking advantage of Democrats’ open border policies. December saw a staggering 302,000 border encounters, setting a new high in the current invasion.

U.S. officials want Mexico to control its own southern border with Guatemala and send illegals back out of the country.

Of course, a blanket amnesty would fit into the apparent agenda of the Biden White House.

Both parties in the Mexico City meeting signed onto a revealing joint statement. “The delegations also discussed the benefits of regularizing the situation of Hispanic migrants who have been undocumented for several years and the DACA beneficiaries.”

It called the illegal migrants “a vital part of the U.S. economy and society.” DACA referred to the 2012 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, sometimes called the Dream Act.

This was an initiative by former President Barack Obama to shield illegal immigrants who entered the country as minors.

The clear wording of the joint statement was not lost on House Republicans, including Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA). He chastised the administration for suggesting amnesty during “the worst border crisis in our nation’s history.”

The GOP leader said Washington should turn its focus to enacting policies that block illegal migration. It should steer away from those that “attract” illegals to enter the country.

Johnson added that national security depends on gaining control of this crisis, and “the American people demand it.”
