A dramatic new report revealed that former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney hid evidence that would have looked very favorably on former President Donald Trump’s actions during the Jan. 6 demonstrations.

She and the thoroughly discredited House Jan. 6 committee, according to The Federalist, suppressed key evidence that proved Trump wanted 10,000 National Guard troops to protect the Capitol on that momentous day.

Reporter Mollie Hemingway detailed the alleged transgressions of Cheney and the partisan House committee.

She wrote, “Cheney and her committee falsely claimed they had ‘no evidence’ to support Trump officials’ claims the White House had communicated its desire for 10,000 National Guard troops.”

But the evidence proved otherwise. “In fact, an early transcribed interview conducted by the committee included precisely that evidence from a key source.” Hemingway added that the proof was suppressed from being released until recent days.

It was Jan. 28, 2022, when Trump Deputy Chief of Staff Anthony Ornato gave his first transcribed interview to the committee. Hemingway reported that he told Cheney and her colleagues that he was present for a conversation about boosting protection at the Capitol.

She explained, “he overheard White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows push Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser to request as many National Guard troops as she needed to protect the city.”

Cheney both attended and participated in this interview, which is only now being revealed.

Ornato told investigators that President Trump suggested that 10,000 troops would be necessary to maintain crowd control. He further described the frustration in the Trump White House over the slow deployment of officers who could police the situation.

According to the report, the committee did much more than mischaracterize the interview. It went on to suppress the transcript from public view while emphasizing evidence that fit the Democratic narrative.

Even more disturbing, allies of the committee began publishing articles critical of Ornato. He is a career Secret Service official who worked in the White House, but conspiracy theories concerning him suddenly circulated.

The Federalist also reported that less than half of the transcripts of interviews conducted by the committee are currently available on the Government Publishing Office website.

The report noted it is unclear how many others contain exonerating evidence concerning Trump.
