Ted Cruz Calls Out Adam Kinzinger Over Pelosi Attack
Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) is settling into his new gig at CNN by taking full advantage of the Friday release of the police body cam footage of the attack on Paul Pelosi at the San Francisco home he shares with his wife, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). Kinzinger is obviously loyal to the Pelosi family after Nancy gave him a seat on the January 6 Committee.
Kinzinger was given the spot on the committee to give the panel a patina of bipartisanship. He and former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) were the two “never-Trumpers” Pelosi named to the committee after she summarily rejected every nomination provided by then-Minority Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
Kinzinger decided not to run for reelection last year. Cheney was trounced by almost 30 percentage points in last year’s Wyoming GOP primary election.
Even though Friday’s video release favors the prosecutors’ accounts of the incident at the Pelosi home, some details remain murky. Theories are still being circulated, including the apparent existence of an unknown third party who answered the door for the police.
Kinzinger followed the lead of the Seattle Times, which pointed out previous comments by several conservatives about the Pelosi attack, in demanding “accountability.” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), and Fox News host Tucker Carlson were some of the most high-profile personalities the paper called out for having earlier made fun of Paul Pelosi.
Cruz didn’t hold back in his reply, telling Kinzinger: “You’re a hack & a liar. The day this happened I said it was a horrific violent attack & I was praying for the Pelosi family. What I mocked was the dishonest media (like you) that falsely painted the attacker as a MAGA Trumpster instead of a deranged hippie nudist Leftist.”
Popular Twitter user Arthur Schwartz responded to Kinzinger, asking him: “Did you demand that Pelosi’s daughter be held accountable (whatever that means) when she made light of the attack on Rand Paul? No, of course you didn’t. Because everything about you is fake — especially your outrage. You ridiculous midget crybaby.”
Twitter CEO Elon Musk issued an apology to Paul Pelosi after he earlier linked to a Santa Monica Observer article that claimed Paul Pelosi was drunk and arguing with a male escort at the time of the attack.
As the criminal prosecution of the alleged attacker continues, we can be assured there will be ongoing debate and discussion about what actually took place at the Pelosi home on the night of the incident.
