A new report from the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, shows that the massive amount of aid being given to Ukraine costs $900 per American household.

In an email to the Daily Signal, Director of the Heritage Foundation Hermann Center for the Federal Budget Richard Stern explained the report’s findings.

“The formal aid packages alone amount to a staggering $113 billion—roughly $900 per American household and almost 12 times the spending cuts promised by House leadership in the annual spending bills,” Stern’s email read.

“This $113 billion spending spree was added to our national debt and will cost more than $300 in interest costs per household over the decade. Of course, we’ve given more aid than that, but haven’t paid the bill on it yet,” the email continued.

The staggering amount of money being doled out to fund the Ukraine war comes despite Americans’ opposition to the never-ending war. Even CNN polling has shown an increase in opposition to the continued funding — as the left-wing outlet recently reported that a poll found “55% of Americans believed Congress should not authorize additional funding to support Ukraine,” while 45% wanted Congress to authorize the funds. The poll also found that 51% of Americans believe the U.S. “has already done enough to help Ukraine.”

Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts pointed to these concerns in a statement to the Daily Signal.

“As the war in Ukraine becomes a prolonged conflict, Americans are rightly growing skeptical of sending more taxpayer dollars and equipment from our depleted armory,” he wrote in the statement.

“Washington has failed to address their concerns, explain our nation’s strategy in the war, or enact basic oversight for our aid. If Congress can’t fix those fundamental issues, they have no business sending more money into the fog of war,” Roberts’ statement continued.

House conservatives recently expressed their objections to President Joe Biden’s latest demand for Ukraine aid — which would give another $24 billion in taxpayer dollars via military and economic funding.

“This request exacerbates your administration’s out-of-control deficit spending and circumvents the bipartisan debt ceiling agreement,” the conservative lawmakers wrote. “Americans are tired of funding endless wars and want policies that not only help restore fiscal sanity in Washington, but also put America and American citizens first.”

The lawmakers, led by Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH), went on to demand that the Biden administration provide Congress with a “comprehensive strategy and mission for U.S. involvement in Ukraine” — because without a formal strategy, “there is no way to develop clear objectives, allocate the proper resources, conduct rigorous oversight, or hold officials accountable for success or failure.”
