Chicago residents staged a protest on Thursday at Mayor Brandon Johnson’s (D) proposed site of a “migrant tent city” in Brighton Park — prompting Chicago police to remove Alderwoman Julia Ramirez from the area after the angry Chicagoans confronted her.

The demonstration occurred on the Southwest Side near 38th Street and California Avenue — with protesters gathering near the area where the far-left mayor has decided to build a tent city for illegal aliens, despite a looming cold Chicago winter.

City crews have already begun preparing the area for the tent city’s construction — cutting down trees, removing clutter and leveling the ground.

Ramirez, the 12th Ward Alderwoman, was confronted by the protesters while attempting to quietly visit the area. After recognizing her, the Chicago residents allegedly began shouting at her and surrounding her aggressively, according to the Chicago Tribune.

“The protesters, mostly Latino and Asian, had been holding signs in English and in their native languages with messages for the mayor and Ramirez, demanding that the construction in the area cease immediately,” the outlet reported.

Chicago Police Department (CPD) officers ultimately had to push through the angry crowd and remove Ramirez from the center — whisking her away from the area.

Footage of the scene was shared on social media.

The alderwoman issued a statement following the protest, claiming that she had attended in order to speak with Chicagoans opposed to the tent city and “address misinformation being spread” about her involvement in the matter.

“After a few conversations, it became clear that most of the protesters did not want to engage in a peaceful dialogue with me,” Ramirez claimed in the statement.

She went on to assert that she was attacked by the protesters and that her staffer had been injured but was in good condition at the hospital. However, no protesters were arrested and CPD did not release any reports about attacks during the demonstration.

In a statement earlier this week, Ramirez essentially told Chicago residents that opposition to their tax dollars funding illegal alien settlements was prompted by “fearmongering and false information” from the “right-wing.”

“I also want you to be open minded and not buy into the fearmongering and false information spread by right-wing, anti-immigrant voices who wish to divide our city,” the alderwoman wrote on Monday. “We are a nation of immigrants and people that are fleeing economic and political turmoil deserve an opportunity for a better life in this country.”

According to a local news outlet, more than 18,500 illegal aliens have been sent to Chicago from the southern border this year. The outlet also reported that more than “3,769 migrants are living in police stations across the city and at O’Hare International Airport with another 11,334 migrants living in city shelters as of Thursday morning, according to city data.”
