Following closed-door congressional testimony from Hunter Biden’s business partner Devon Archer, Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) tried to defend President Joe Biden by claiming that it would have been rude for him not to speak with his son’s business associates. Goldman was reportedly the only Democrat lawmaker present in the room during Archer’s testimony.

Archer reportedly testified that Joe Biden had been on speakerphone over 20 times with his son Hunter’s foreign business associates to sell “the brand.”

According to a tweet from Fox News senior congressional correspondent Chad Pergram, who spoke with a source familiar with Archer’s transcribed interview, “The argument was that then-Vice President Joe Biden brought the most value to ‘the brand.’”

Archer also testified that Burisma Holdings — the Ukrainian energy company that he and Hunter Biden sat on the board of — would have gone under if not for “the brand.”

Goldman — who worked with Democrats as a House staffer to impeach former President Donald Trump for far less than what Joe Biden is being accused of — is now defending the president in light of Archer’s testimony.

Speaking with reporters after the hearing, the Democrat lawmaker argued that it would have been rude for Joe Biden to ignore his son’s meetings and conversations with business associates.

“If he [Joe Biden] says, ‘Hello’ to someone that he sees his son with, is he supposed to say, ‘Hi, son. No, I’m not gonna say, ‘Hello’ to the other people at the table or the other people on the phone?’” Goldman asked.

“It’s kind of a preposterous premise to think that a father should not say, ‘Hello’ to people that the son is at dinner with,” he added.

Responding to a clip of Goldman’s comments, one Twitter user pointed out that the Democrat congressman in his defense of Joe Biden was already contradicting the president’s previous claims — as he has repeatedly denied even talking to his son about his overseas business, let alone talking to the business partners.

“Rep. Dan Goldman really should know what Joe Biden said before saying Joe Biden never said that. Here’s one clip of Joe Biden saying ‘I have never spoken to my son about his overseas business,’” the Twitter user wrote, sharing a clip of Biden’s previous comments to reporters.

CNN also attempted to defend Joe Biden in response to Archer’s testimony, claiming that his testimony had only confirmed that Hunter had tried to sell the “illusion” of access to his father.
