House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rep. Mark Green (R-TN) has declared that he is “absolutely” going to introduce articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over his failed response to President Joe Biden’s border crisis.

Green made the comments during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” where he confirmed that the House Homeland Security Committee has been investigating Mayorkas for several months now — noting that the investigation is set to end later this month.

During the conversation with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo, Green pointed out that the border crisis is a significant threat to Americans, especially in light of concerns about an “attack on U.S. soil” committed by terrorists that have illegally crossed the southern border.

The Homeland Security chairman cited FBI Director Christopher Wray’s comments during a recent “Worldwide Threats” briefing, in which Wray “clearly said that the open border has created both an increased risk for his agents who are now hunting these individuals inside the United States, and certainly an increased risk to the American people.”

Green went on to point out that there have been 294 individuals on the terrorist watchlist apprehended at the southern border since Biden took office.

Bartiromo then pressed Green as to what Congress is doing about this issue, to which he pointed out that the Homeland Security Committee has been investigating Mayorkas and “what’s happening at the border.”

He emphasized that he had to then get that information to his colleagues and convince them to remove Mayorkas from his position as DHS secretary, declaring that he has been “derelict in his duty, he’s broken the laws of the United States that have passed Congress, he’s lied to Congress. This guy needs to go.”

Bartiromo then pointed out that Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) previously tried to push for Mayorkas’ impeachment on the House floor, but eight Republicans voted against the measure “partly on process” — telling Green that “they wanted you to bring the bill to the floor, will you do it?”

Green responded by confirming that the Homeland Security Committee will have “three or four hearings in January,” followed by a process to edit the impeachment articles that have already been proposed by several different Republican lawmakers. Green will then introduce those articles of impeachment on the House floor.

During the interview, Green also called out Mayorkas over reports that the removals of illegal aliens under his leadership have decreased by roughly five-fold despite record numbers of illegals entering the United States.

“It shows their intent is basically to fundamentally change the population of the United States and, I believe, to empower the Democrat Party into perpetuity,” he argued.
