On Monday, a federal judge issued a ruling temporarily ordering the Biden administration to stop cutting the razor wire barrier erected by Texas officials along the Rio Grande.

The temporary restraining order was issued by Judge Alia Moses, of the Western District of Texas, who was appointed by former President George W. Bush. In the order, Moses prohibited the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) from “disassembling, degrading, tampering” with Texas’ razor wire barrier, which was installed near Eagle Pass to stop illegal aliens from entering the U.S. through the Rio Grande.

“The Court shall grant the temporary relief requested, with one important exception for any medical emergency that mostly likely results in serious bodily injury or death to a person, absent any boats or other life-saving apparatus available to avoid such medical emergencies prior to reaching the concertina wire barrier,” the federal judge reportedly wrote in the 11-page filing.

Moses noted that the temporary restraining order would remain in effect pending the outcome of a hearing requested by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R), which will take place on November 7 in Del Rio, Texas. The order will expire on November 13 unless the judge chooses to extend it.

This is the latest result of a lawsuit filed by Paxton last week against the Biden administration, with the attorney general demanding that the court prohibit federal agents from cutting, destroying, damaging or interfering with Texas’ razor wire barrier.

“Texas has the sovereign right to construct border barriers to prevent the entry of illegal aliens,” Paxton wrote in a press release about the lawsuit on October 24. “Americans across the country were horrified to watch Biden’s open-border policy in action: agents were physically cutting wires and assisting the aliens’ entry into our state. This is illegal. It puts our country and our citizens at risk. The courts must put a stop to it, or Biden’s free-for-all will make this crushing immigration crisis even worse.”

The Texas attorney general revealed in court on Friday that federal agents sent by the Biden administration had begun dismantling the razor wire using forklifts and other machinery.

The Biden administration has consistently undermined Texas’ ability to protect its border with Mexico as President Joe Biden continues to allow illegal aliens to enter the U.S. with his open border policies — while Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) has taken several actions recently to stem the flow of illegal immigration, including installing the razor wire.

Abbott celebrated the ruling — declaring it “another win” for Texas’ “historic border mission.”

“Biden created this crisis & has tried to block us at every turn. Attorney General Paxton & I are pushing back,” he wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.
