A new poll has revealed that 41% of New York state residents want the United States to build a wall across the entire southern border as the state is dealing with serious problems caused by a massive influx of illegal aliens.

Over 110,000 illegal aliens have entered New York City since 2022, with 60,000 of those illegals being housed using taxpayer funds — causing the city to have to open additional homeless shelters. New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) announced over the weekend that the city would be implementing budget cuts to the tune of billions of dollars to offset the cost of the illegal immigration crisis, including slashing overtime for the New York Police Department (NYPD). The city has spent more than $1.2 billion on illegal aliens thus far — and is expected to spend up to $5 billion in the coming years.

In response to all of this, New Yorkers are growing frustrated — with many staging protests outside of makeshift shelters set up in New York City and across the state, as Adams has shipped many of the city’s illegal aliens to neighboring towns in an effort to alleviate the burden on the city’s shelters and services.

Now, a Siena College poll released on Tuesday shows that the frustration has grown to the point that 41% of New York state residents are in favor of a border wall spanning the entire length of the U.S.-Mexico border. However, half of New York state residents still oppose a border wall.

Even in deep-blue New York City, the poll shows that 38% of residents support a border wall.

The poll also addressed the consequences of allowing so many illegal aliens into the U.S. — including drug trafficking and the effects on the economy.

Roughly 38% of New Yorkers stated that they believe the illegal aliens crossing the southern border are the source of much of the illegal drugs coming into the country, while 31% say that many of these illegals are “dangerous potentially criminal people,” according to the poll.

The survey also showed that 42% of New Yorkers believe that the illegal aliens take in more resources than they return in economic activity or taxes — and 35% expressed their belief that many illegal aliens “just want free hand-outs from our government and people … and do not want to work.”
