During a recent interview, Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy blasted the Democrats’ attempts to censor Democrat presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. during a recent House hearing.

Ramaswamy, an author and entrepreneur, made the comments during an appearance on the Thursday broadcast of Fox News’ “Jesse Watters Primetime.” He condemned the Democrats for voting to censor Kennedy over comments that have been misconstrued as antisemitic.

In off-the-record comments that were recorded at an event, Kennedy discussed a study that showed Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese people were less affected by COVID — pointing out that the disease was made in a lab and discussing the concerns about lab-engineered bioweapons that can target or pass over certain ethnicities. The comments were taken out of context by numerous publications to attack Kennedy. The Democrat presidential candidate has since clarified his comments and responded to the backlash.

However, the fact that his comments were misconstrued was lost on Democrats, who voted to censor Kennedy when he appeared in the House of Representatives to give testimony about censorship.

Responding to the Democrats’ censorship, Ramaswamy praised Kennedy for his “willingness to speak truths.”

“They prefer compliant puppets of the managerial class like Joe Biden, like John Fetterman, as you noted, to somebody that’s actually going to challenge their orthodoxy,” Ramaswamy told host Jesse Watters.

The Republican presidential candidate went on to point out that the Democrats have lost their way on the issue of free speech, noting that he had called Kennedy on Wednesday to encourage him to keep speaking his mind.

“I respect his willingness to speak hard truths,” Ramaswamy said. “That’s what I’m doing in the Republican primary as well, and I think our country is going to be at its best when both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party are the best versions of themselves.”

He also asserted that school lockdowns wouldn’t have happened during the pandemic if actual free speech was allowed during that time, and argued that Democrats have used censorship as a tool to expand their power. According to Ramaswamy, the left will likely use censorship again in the next “emergency circumstance.”
