Former star NCAA swimmer Riley Gaines vaulted into icon status among conservatives for her courageous stand against biological males competing with real women in athletics. She was even physically assaulted for defending female sports and spaces.

Now, however, journalist Laura Loomer attempted to go after Gaines apparently for being a Ron DeSantis supporter. There must be room to back different candidates among Republicans, but apparently not for the rabid Loomer.

Whatever side of an issue you are on, there are always people that you wish were on the other side.

Loomer inexplicably noted that Gaines lost a swimming competition to a male, which of course began the controversy.

Then she posted the swimmer’s home address. This is nothing more than doxxing, something radical leftists love to engage in. The hope is to intimidate the speaker into silence by making public details of their personal lives.

It is a despicable and dangerous practice no matter who does it.

In a since-deleted post on X, formerly Twitter, Loomer said Gaines “had a long run, pretending to be a victim after you got beat by a man.”

She then added, “now you have turned your victimhood into deception and financial gain, and sadly, someone along the way hypnotized you into believing you are a political expert.”

Loomer chose the wrong target this time. Gaines went scorched Earth on the independent reporter, saying that it was no secret that she joined DeSantis for a campaign event in South Carolina earlier this year.

Then she demonstrated her true conservative credentials. “And if Trump wins the primary, I’ll be all in, because this country needs fiscal, social and foreign policy conservative leadership. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that.”

Gaines added that Loomer apparently dismissed the importance of safety, privacy and opportunity for girls and women in sports. “To her,” the swimmer and activist said, “being ‘loyal’ to a man who barely knows she exists takes precedent.”

She then slammed Loomer for posting her address when it could have been blacked out.

This was done with a screenshot of a Federal Election Commission document. It concerned payment Gaines received for appearing at the South Carolina function with DeSantis.

Riley, a 12-time All-American swimmer and five-time SEC champion, recalled she appeared with DeSantis “for an event earlier this year and was compensated for my time. That’s how it works.”
