As numerous mainstream media outlets have begun pushing the idea of reinstituting mask mandates — and several businesses across the country have already begun enforcing such mandates — Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo is speaking out against the “terrible policies.”

Some scientists have begun warning of a rise in COVID cases, prompting schools, hospitals and businesses across the United States to enforce mask mandates again. One such case was in Morris Brown College in Atlanta — which announced a mask mandate despite having zero reported cases of COVID on campus. Lionsgate film studio in California also began mandating masks in some of its Santa Monica offices earlier this month, but lifted the mandate soon after — claiming that it had contained the spread of COVID.

Alongside these institutions and businesses implementing mask mandates, several left-leaning mainstream media outlets have been pushing for people to start masking again. On Wednesday, CNN published an article titled, “It may be time to break out the masks against Covid, some experts say.”

CBS News has also begun pushing the narrative. On Friday, one of the network’s medical contributors claimed that “People 65-plus and people who are immunocompromised should strongly consider masking during flu, RSV, COVID season while in indoor public spaces. And for everyone else — it all depends on what their risk tolerance is.”

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Ladapo slammed mask mandates as “terrible policies” — calling on Americans to refuse to comply as businesses and institutions across the U.S. begin returning to forced masking policies.

“What do you call re-imposing mask policies that have been proven ineffective or restarting lockdowns that are known to cause harm? You don’t call it sanity,” the Florida surgeon general tweeted. “These terrible policies only work with your cooperation. How about refusing to participate…”

Ladapo has been outspoken about mask mandates for years — asserting in March 2022 that the argument being used to push mask mandates is “a lie” that “needs to stop and people need to un-believe it.”

The Florida surgeon general has also been opposed to vaccine mandates, working closely with Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) to make Florida the first state to recommend against COVID-19 vaccines for healthy children after releasing a study that suggested the vaccine posed a higher health risk to young men.
